Lack of Knowledge about Wealth Management Tools Among the Top Concerns for Investment Professionals in 2014, Crown Global Survey Reveals
Regulation & compliance and taxes are focus area for asset managers
NEW YORK - (June 17, 2014) – Eight-nine percent of insurance brokers surveyed by Crown Global identified tax efficiency as the number one area where they could use more data to better serve their clients. In addition, thirty-nine percent of asset managers surveyed cited taxes as the greatest concern in 2014 and beyond. Crown Global surveyed a broad range of industry and investment professionals on key issues at the Private Placement Life Insurance (PPLI) and Annuities (PPVA) Conference in June 2014. Other trends expected to gain traction in 2014 include regulation and compliance (42 percent) and uncertainly about changes in legislation (43 percent).
“Given the sea change of new regulations, alternative asset managers, investors and their advisors are looking to increase their knowledge of innovative strategies to mitigate risks and improve tax efficiency,” said Perry Lerner, chairman and chief executive officer, Crown Global. “Our survey reflects the greatest area of concern includes taxes and regulations and compliance.”

The survey revealed a positive perspective on using private placement life insurance as a wealth management tool; eighty-two percent have used the innovative structure in the last year. Respondents included 64 asset managers with combined assets under management or advisement in excess of $4.5 trillion.

The survey, conducted on June 3, 2014, was developed to gauge the sentiment of investment managers in the coming year. Respondents included professionals from different specialties within the asset management and insurance industry, including company executives, portfolio managers, analysts, brokers, lawyers, accountants, financial planners and family offices. Percentages are based on 100 responses.
